Netizens are divided after a viral video showed a man asking skateboarders to make space for his daughters to rollerblade at a skate park in Ampang

The 1-minute and 27-second video, which has garnered over 400,000 views on TikTok, shows a man in a black shirt approaching a group of skateboarders at the Urban Skate Plaza by Vans.

In the video, several skateboarders advised the man against allowing his children to use the area as they were actively performing jumps and tricks, warning that it could be dangerous.

One skateboarder can be heard telling the man that any injuries would be at his own risk, while others suggested that his young children would be safer rollerblading at a regular playground instead.

According to the video's caption, the man later began scolding one of the skateboarders, which the person recording described as "spoiling the mood"

"I felt bad for the skateboarder because I heard the man saying they should let the children play and not act like they own the whole place.

"It's called a skate park, bro. You can't expect people to just skate around the edges," the poster wrote, adding that the man had three daughters wearing rollerblades.

The incident sparked debate in the comments section, with some arguing that the public facility should be shared by everyone

"Isn't the space big enough? Just play together lah," one netizen commented.

"What's wrong? It's a skating area. It's not like they can rollerblade on the road," another wrote.

However, most argued that skate parks are specifically designed for action sports and not casual play

"Skate parks are extreme sports facilities, not playgrounds. Please respect the people who use them. If children want to rollerblade, find a safer and more comfortable place," one commenter said.

"The name itself is skate park, bro. When you enter someone else's space, follow the rules," another wrote.

"This is like using a velodrome cycling track for jogging. Can't people understand that?" a third netizen commented.
