Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg is currently in Penang for a two-week filming schedule for an upcoming Netflix film titled The Big Fix
Local social media erupted in delight after videos surfaced showing the actor standing next to a silver Perodua Kelisa in Lebuh Melayu, George Town.
Naturally, Malaysian netizens could not resist cracking jokes about the iconic compact car.
One Facebook user, Ding Xiang, joked: "New Transformers movie? I want to see what Transformer the Kelisa will transform into."
The Big Fix, which centres on a global football match-fixing syndicate, also stars British actor Riz Ahmed
Penang Island City Council (MBPP) Mayor Datuk A Rajendran confirmed that shooting kicked off on 10 July, according to the New Straits Times.
Rajendran said the production is utilising multiple local backdrops, including Lorong Kulit, City Stadium, Batu Kawan Stadium, Macallum Field, and several more.
Wahlberg also took to Instagram to share a candid moment with Rev Fr Michael Raymond, a local parish priest
He captioned his viral post: "Happy Sunday brother. God bless you. Stay prayed up, from Malaysia."
National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) Chairman Datuk Hans Isaac confirmed he met the star on set.
Meanwhile, locals are jokingly wondering if the Kelisa will soon be listed for a jackpot price of RM500,000.
