People Are Worried That Najib Doesn't Know How To Wear A Safety Helmet
Safety first.
A few days ago, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was in Johor to launch the Petronas’ Integrated Pengerang Complex (PIPC)
During his two-day working visit in Johor from 5 December, Najib undertook aerial and ground tours of the USD27 billion (RM121) project and officiated the installation ceremony of the tallest and heaviest propylene fractionator process column for Petronas’ steam cracker facility at the complex.
The mega development is a part of the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), and is said to be a project that will create a more dynamic and progressive oil and gas industry in Malaysia.
Following his visit, Najib took to Facebook to share a photo of him with the workers at the PIPC
The photo has stirred some interesting discussions. One of them includes how Najib may not have not correctly put on the PPE (personal protective equipment).
SafetyGear, an online retail store selling safety equipment, posted on its Facebook page a photo of Najib with an edited caption that reads, "Siapa pun anda, PPE mesti pakai dengan betul (Whoever you are, PPE must be worn correctly)".
Many have since pointed out that Najib failed to abide by the standard safety rules for wrongly wearing the protective helmet as the chin strap was visibly rested around his forehead area.
The correct way of wearing the helmet is to fasten the strap as tight as possible under his jaw without causing pain.
Several people have questioned why the premier has failed to properly wear his helmet and why no one on the site corrected him
The failure to properly put on PPE was the second-leading cause of injuries in industrial sites as PPE is crucial in ensuring safety on the job site and minimising the risks of injuries.
In fact, the consequences of not wearing protective gear properly could be fatal.
