Naked Man Caught Running In KL Was Given Clothes And Money By Police Instead Of Jail Time
"[H]e was facing depression and could not control his emotions due to personal problems."
A naked man in his 30s was spotted running around Pasar Seni area yesterday, 10 November
Malaysiakini reported that the incident took place in front of Daya Bumi building at around 3.30pm.
According to a statement by Dang Wangi district police chief Mohd Fahmi Visunathan Abdullah, the man was so drunk that he did not realise he was naked in public
"[H]e was facing depression and could not control his emotions due to personal problems, and therefore had drunk excessive alcohol," reported Malaysiakini.
Police then persuaded him to get into the patrol car and bought him some clothes from a bundle store
According to Free Malaysia Today, the man got into the car willingly without kicking up a fuss.
Fahmi said initially there were some negative comments on social media because the public was not aware of the man's problems and criticised him for being drunk.
"But we, the police are still mindful and still humane," he added.
The authorities then gave him some money as fare for a ride to return to his home in Brickfields.
