In a recent Facebook post, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) shared the official spelling for several Malay words related to the month of Ramadan

According to the post, the spelling of 'Ramadhan' is incorrect and should be spelt as 'Ramadan'.

Similarly, other words like 'murtabak' should be spelt as 'martabak', 'kuetiow' as 'kuetiau', 'briyani' as 'beriani', and 'terawih' as 'tarawih'.

The post quickly went viral on the social media platform, and at the time of writing, it has garnered over 2,700 shares and 4,900 likes.

Netizens were shocked by some the spellings and shared their thoughts in the comments section

"The word 'murtabak' sounds better than 'martabak'," commented one user.
