A 44-year-old nurse was seriously injured after her husband allegedly stabbed her six times on her body and neck at their home in Kampung Padang Lepai, Kota Bharu, Kelantan
According to Bernama, the victim's 78-year-old mother, Zubaidah Abdullah, said her daughter had been married to the 47-year-old suspect for six years and was in the process of seeking a divorce.
She said her daughter had also previously lodged a police report against the suspect for allegedly making death threats against her.
Zubaidah said she initially thought her daughter and son-in-law were merely having an argument, but realised something was wrong after seeing blood pooling on the kitchen floor.
"I tried to grab his shirt from behind to stop him from hurting my daughter again, but I couldn't.
"We didn't know he was outside the kitchen because it was quite dark there. I never expected him to suddenly attack my daughter," she said.
Zubaidah was also injured during the incident and required two stitches on her finger.
She said her 12-year-old grandson ran out to seek help after the suspect fled the scene.

Berita Harian reported that Amirah said her mother had lodged a police report at the end of August, and the couple were no longer living together.
The victim and suspect have a three-year-old daughter from their marriage. The victim also has three older children from a previous marriage, with Amirah being the eldest.
The family reportedly only realised how seriously the victim had been injured after the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect later surrendered at Nilam Puri police station in Kota Bharu at about 9.15pm on Monday, 5 October, where he was arrested.
He has been remanded for seven days until 12 October, while police also seized the knife allegedly used in the incident.
Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Mohd Azmir Damiri said the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
