Parkson Will Close Down Its 9-Year-Old Outlet In Melaka Mall Next Month

Full-time staff members were given the option to relocate to other outlets in the country.

A Chinese daily recently revealed that local department chain Parkson will be shutting down its outlet in Melaka Mall

China Press reported yesterday that the outlet, which has been in business for the past 9 years, will cease operation by 10 December.

Reporters from the Chinese daily confirmed this after speaking with staff members.

Full-time staff members were given the option to relocate to other outlets in the country

While some of them have taken up the offer, others chose to quit and seek employment elsewhere.

Customers who used to frequent the outlet told China Press that the closure was a long time coming due to stiff competition from other department stores and the poor economy. Some patrons also added that Parkson has been charging high prices for their goods, causing them to opt for cheaper options.

News of the closure comes days after netizens speculated that the outlet might be shutting down soon

A viral post published by Facebook group Melaka Network claimed that the outlet will be having a clearance sale, with discounts up to 80%. Do note that this has not been confirmed and it could just be mere speculation.
