A PAS Youth division in Terengganu has defended its upcoming motorcycle convoy gathering, calling it an activity that trains discipline

In a Facebook post on Monday, 25 May, the Marang PAS Youth said the HIMPIT 2026 event "trains discipline, organisation, and obedience to instructions".

It said that while motorcycle convoys are a "normal, everyday thing" activity involving large crowds gathering to wave flags and take photos, they can also teach young attendees valuable lessons.

According to the post, a good convoy requires orderly coordination, clear instructions, and the cooperation of every participant. It also outlined several practices during the event that are meant to instil discipline:

• The convoy must have a contingent leader and marshals
• The convoy must have a route, movement timing, and formation order
• The convoy must obey speed limits, maintain a safe distance, and follow safety instructions
• The convoy must learn to move collectively with manners and responsibility

The event is expected to take place on 5 and 6 June in Air Tawar Beach, Besut, Terengganu

"Not everyone can ride together in a single-file formation. Not everyone can follow instructions. Not everyone has the patience to maintain a safe distance, follow the marshals, wait for riders behind them, and enter the venue in an orderly manner.

"That is where the real discipline training takes place.

"That is why the HIMPIT 2026 convoy is not just about creating a lively atmosphere. We want to bring young people together and teach them how to move as one team," the post read.

In another post published on Facebook, the Youth wing said the event symbolised:

• Islam as a guide for life and the identity of the struggle
• The struggle and pride of Terengganu youth in defending Islam and the homeland
• The strength of the youth, team spirit, and readiness to lead
• Mobilising efforts and service for the well-being of society

This is not the first time the party has organised a motorcycle convoy

Last month, Transport Minister Anthony Loke criticised several PAS assemblypersons over a planned convoy that was set to pass by Sultan Ismail Petra Airport on 25 April.

He said airport areas are strategic zones where safety must always be maintained to ensure smooth and uninterrupted passenger travel, reported FMT.

Meanwhile, PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar also slammed the party for organising the event amid an energy crisis, describing it as tone-deaf and wasteful, reported the New Straits Times.
