Ryzal Ibrahim, the husband behind the Duriankimchi account, is under investigation for insulting the traditional dress of the Iban tribe
In a statement yesterday, 28 May, Miri district deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said that several police reports have been lodged at the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Miri district police against Ryzal for making fun of traditional Iban clothing in his Instagram Stories over the week.
He added that the police reports have been lodged from all over Sarawak.
This comes after Ryzal was slammed for posting a video of himself cracking jokes in a dressing room with his Korean wife Maryam You Na-rae while she wore the ethnic costume for Iban women, Ngepan Indu.
He will be investigated for intentionally insulting with intent to provoke a breach of the peace and for improper use of network facilities
An investigation paper has been opened under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, according to Miri district deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri.
Police have urged Ryzal to come forward to cooperate with the investigation.
Meanwhile, Mohd Sabri reminded everyone to be more sensitive to the diversity of cultures and customs in the country
