Before his death, 93-year-old Yob Abd Karim meticulously prepared more than 100 envelopes stuffed with cash
The father of six, who died of old age at his home in Segari, Manjung, on 5 September, intended for the money to be given to those who helped manage his funeral.
The discovery of the envelopes surprised his grieving family members.
His 30-year-old granddaughter, Siti Mahirah Azemi, took to Threads to share the touching revelation after the family uncovered the funds

She said her grandfather had no chronic illnesses, but his health deteriorated after he fell in the bathroom two months ago.
"Tok wan (grandfather) would always say that he was no longer strong and did not have much time left, but we did not expect that he had prepared envelopes containing money to be given to those who helped with his funeral arrangements," Siti Mahirah said.
Many of the funeral helpers chose to return the cash to the family
"There were more than 100 envelopes, and we ourselves do not know when they were prepared because the envelopes were already old," she said, according to the New Straits Times.
Yob had previously confided in his 85-year-old wife, Selmiah Said, about the funds, a secret that was then shared with his son, Azemi Yob.
While the family dutifully handed out the envelopes, most recipients respectfully declined the cash and returned it to be donated.
The family channelled the returned funds into community charity
"So, we used it to hold a tahlil (prayer) and donated it to the mosque as an ongoing charity for him," Siti Mahirah added.
"Next year, we will no longer be able to celebrate Hari Raya with him, but we will always remember all his teachings and kindness," she said.
