PM Najib Promises Higher Internet Speed With 50% Price Reduction In the Next 2 Years

The announcement was made in the tabling of Budget 2017.

Fixed line broadband service providers will be offering services at higher speeds at no price increase from January 2017, PM Najib Razak announced today

The announcement was made earlier today, 21 October, at the tabling of Budget 2017.

Within the next two years, Internet speed is also expected to be doubled with prices to be reduced by a whopping 50%

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will provide RM1 billion to ensure coverage and quality of broadband nationwide reaches up to 20MB per second.

In addition, the government will be launching an initiative for ethernet broadband services in public universities to be increased up to 100GB per second
