A Woman In Ampang Was Arrested After She Joked About Killing Tan Sri Muhyiddin Online

She is being investigated for a comment she left on a live video of the PM being sworn in.

A woman was recently nabbed by the police after she joked about killing Malaysia's eighth Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin

The official Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Facebook page announced that she was arrested on Tuesday, 3 March at Ampang Jaya, Selangor.

The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Penny Tai who is currently working at a clinic.

The woman is being investigated for a comment she left on a live video of the PM being sworn in

She wrote, "Can hired (sic) a killer to kill the new prime minister?"

Selangor Senior Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat revealed in a video by the PDRM that the woman has no political background and she has never voted.

If found guilty, the suspect could be put behind bars or face a fine up to RM50,000

Sin Chew Daily reported that she is currently being probed under Section 506 of the Penal Code which states that whoever commits the offence of criminal intimidation shall be punished with imprisonment or with a fine.

Besides that, she is also being investigated according to Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 for threatening national security through the use of the Internet.
