Police Report Lodged Against Individual Offering RM5 Million Bounty On Anwar
A screenshot of a TikTok user who issued the bounty went viral on social media.
PKR's youth wing has lodged a police report against a TikTok user who placed a RM5 million bounty on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim
In a now-deleted video, a TikTok user offered a RM5 million bounty to whoever was willing to assassinate the Prime Minister and his Cabinet ministers, reported Bernama.
The video was reportedly uploaded by a user "@jaiadani89" on TikTok.
Screenshots of the video in question went viral on social media yesterday, 26 November.
Many users began tagging various parties including PKR's official Twitter account, and demanded for swift action against the individual involved.
Police are currently investigating the death threat
PKR's deputy youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said such videos, which stem from hatred, are detrimental to the country.
"Recently, we have frequently witnessed comments and statements that pose threats not only to the Prime Minister's security but also touch on the sensitivities of race and religion," he said.
Kamil also expressed concern that if such incidents were left unchecked, there could be a rise in individuals making statements to incite the public to issue death threats, thereby potentially jeopardising the country's security and harmony.
"We urge the police to immediately investigate and take the necessary action," he said.
