The rising cases of cyber crimes is said to be due to the lack of public awareness on cyber fraud. To address this problem and fight cyber crimes, the police is enlisting the help of 51 banks.

Police are collaborating with 51 banks to fight cyber crimes
The Royal Malaysian Police today launched their collaboration with 51 banks to curb cyber crimes via internet banking.

The collaboration involved 27 members of the Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) and 24 banks under the Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (IBIM).

"We are providing 'crime alert' or 'scam alert' link on the tips and modus operandi to the banks' websites," he told reporters after launching the collaboration at Bukit Aman here Monday.

Fraud and cyber crimes in the country have risen unchecked due to the lack of public awareness, while victims are hesitant to report the crime, the police said. Millions of ringgit have been lost annually to crimes like sms scams and parcel scams, which have mostly gone unnoticed in the public eye.
