PDRM Officer Who Allegedly Raped 2 Mongolian Women To Be Charged For Human Trafficking
He may also be charged for rape.
A police officer who was accused of raping two Mongolian women will be charged for human trafficking today, 29 April
The suspect will be charged at the Klang Sessions Court under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act.
If convicted, it could result in imprisonment of between three and 20 years and a fine, according to a Malay Mail report.
The suspect may also be charged for rape
Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said that they are waiting for further instruction on whether they can proceed with the charge.
"The police are awaiting further instructions for the offence of rape under Section 376 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement yesterday, 28 April, according to Free Malaysia Today.
Earlier this month, the suspect was arrested at a boutique hotel for holding two women, aged 20 years old and 36 years old, against their will
The women were stopped at a Movement Control Order (MCO) roadblock for failing to have valid travel documents.
The police officer was alleged to have taken advantage of the situation by bringing them to a hotel and raping them.
Three Mongolian women who were detained after making a police report about the incident have since been released.
"We are extremely grateful to all those who came forward to demand accountability from the police in their treatment and the process of investigation of our clients," lawyer Mathew Thomas said in a statement yesterday, according to Free Malaysia Today.
"With the whistleblowers freed today, we take it as a first step forward towards justice in this case."
