A former local reality TV contestant and comedian has been sentenced to 10 days in prison after failing to pay RM108,200 in court-mandated settlements to his ex-wife

Syarie Judge Mohd Saifullah Hamzah issued the 10-day committal order at the Petaling Syariah Lower Court on 11 August, after the entertainer defaulted on payment deadlines set for September and October 2025.

The total sum arose from two prior court judgments covering mutaah (consolatory gift) and marital debt, but the man failed to make any payment.

The court allowed him to explain his non-payment

According to Berita Harian, Syarie lawyer Nurul Hanan Jasmin, who represented the ex-wife, explained that the court gave the respondent an opportunity to file a Notice to Show Cause, but his reasons were deemed insufficient.

Nurul Hanan added that Judge Mohd Saifullah advised the public figure to set a positive example for society by complying with court orders, emphasising that justice delayed is justice denied.

The lawyer clarified that the committal order does not extinguish the man's obligation to settle the outstanding amount, stating, "After serving the prison sentence, the Judgment Debtor's obligation to pay the RM108,200 remains."
