70-Year-Old Retiree Run Over By Car While Pumping Petrol In Kluang

On 23 August, a video of a man being run over by a car at a petrol station in Kluang, Johor went viral on social media after it was posted on Facebook

In the grainy video, a white coloured Kancil was shown filling up petrol

When the driver finished filling up, she and her passenger entered the car and drove straight towards the victim!

The Kancil failed to swerve away from the victim, running him over before dragging him under its wheels. The car only came to a stop after going over a curb, as a passer-by rushed in to give assistance to the victim, who was left sprawled on the tarmac.

The victim was identified as 70-year-old retiree Haji Nasir, who is believed to have suffered a broken leg and hand from the incident

The former Tenaga Nasional Bhd pensioner, identified as Haji Nasir, is believed to have suffered a broken hand and leg during the 12.05pm incident involving a Perodua Kancil at the Shell station.

Kluang OCPD Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Laham said that the driver lost control of her vehicle when her slippers were stuck in the accelerator pedal

"Initial investigations showed that the incident happened when the driver lost control of her Perodua Kancil after her slippers got stuck on her car's accelerator pedal," Laham said.

The case will be investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
