#Budget2025: RM600 Million Allocated To Tackle Flash Floods And Landslides

The government has completed eight flood mitigation projects worth RM540 million, with 12 more projects underway at a cost of RM3 billion.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced an immediate allocation of RM150 million to local authorities and the Department of Irrigation and Drainage to address flash floods that have hit Kuala Lumpur and several other cities recently

The funds will be used to clean clogged drains and dredge rivers in affected areas.

Additionally, almost RM600 million has been set aside for the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) to strengthen disaster preparedness, with more than RM300 million already allocated for potential flood emergencies.

Anwar announced this during the tabling of the 2025 Budget in the Parliament today, 18 October.

Meanwhile, RM20 million in matching grants will also be provided to GLIC and GLC foundations to boost aid for flood victims.

In response to recent landslides and land subsidence incidents, the government is investing over RM250 million for slope repairs and RM21 million to address land subsidence in Perak, Kedah, and Perlis.

A further RM10 million will be allocated to a geotechnical study in Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle to prevent future incidents.
