A quick stop on the Penang Bridge turned into a horrific affair when a man was attacked and robbed while his girl friend was abducted and kidnapped.

A Chinese National, In Her 20s, Was Abducted From The Penang Bridge Rest Area And Gang-Raped By Three Men On 3 August 2014

A Chinese national was abducted by a group of men at a rest area in the Penang Bridge early morning today, before taking her to an area in Butterworth and taking turns to rape her.

Her Friend, A 46-Year-Old Businessman, Was Attacked And Robbed

A businessman was attacked by a group of men while his female friend was abducted and raped while resting at the Penang Bridge stop area early this morning.

The Pair Was Travelling Towards Butterworth At About 3.30am. They Parked Their Car At A Rest Area Near The Penang Bridge.

The incident happened when the victim was heading to Butterworth in a car driven by her 49-year-old male friend after patronising an entertainment outlet in George Town.

The victim’s friend stopped at the rest area to relieve himself while the victim waited alone in the car.

The 46-year-old businessman and his girlfriend, aged 23, were chatting in his Hyundai Elantra car, which was parked near the Penang Bridge, when the youths arrived in two motorcycles at the scene.

Four Men On Two Motorcycles Then Drove Up To Them On The Pretext Of Asking For Directions

The businessman, 46, had just alighted from his Hyundai Elantra when four men rode up on two motorcycles. One of them approached him on the pretext of asking for directions.

While The Businessman Was Distracted With Giving Directions, Three Of The Men Started To Attack Him

While they were talking, the other three suddenly started assaulting him. He fell to the ground.

The men, however, punched the victim's friend and abducted her with the car before taking her to a dark area in Butterworth and forcing themselves on her.

They Took His Wallet, Money, Personal Documents, Bank Card, And Mobile Phone

The attackers took the man’s wallet containing cash, personal documents and bank cards, as well as his mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

Two Of The Suspects Jumped Into The Businessman's Car And Drove Away With The Girl Still Seated Inside. The Other Two Left On Their Motorcycles.

Two escaped on their motorcycles while another two jumped into the businessman’s car and drove away with the woman still seated inside during the 3am incident yesterday.

Three of the assailants dragged the foreign national into the car and left the scene, leaving their accomplice to watch over the businessman in the incident about 3.30am.

They Drove Her To A Secluded Spot In Sungai Dua And Took Turns To Rape Her

The woman said three of the suspects raped her before abandoning her near a petrol station in Sungai Dua near here.

Several Hours Later, They Abandoned Her At A Petrol Station. Passers-by Sent Her To The Hospital.

He said that after several hours, the female victim was left by the suspects at a petrol station in Sungai Dua. Nasir stated that the suspects also relieved the victim of her purse, mobile phone, RM1,000 in cash and other valuables.

Passers-by sent the woman to the hospital before she lodged a police report.

The Businessman Hitched A Ride From A Passing Taxi Before Lodging A Police Report. His Car Was Later Found Abandoned Near Sungai Dua.

The businessman, meanwhile, hitched a ride from a passing taxi before lodging a report at the Mak Mandin police station near here.

The car was later found near Sungai Lokan near Sungai Dua.

State CID Deputy Chief Asst Comm Mohd Nasir Salleh Urged Anyone With Information To Contact The Seberang Prai Police Headquarters

In confirming the matter, Penang deputy CID Chief ACP Nasir Salleh said the police are investigating the case to identify the suspects.

Nasir said initial investigations revealed that all four suspects are aged between 20 and 30.
The case is being investigated under Sections 394 and 342 of the Penal Code for theft and kidnapping, as well as Section 376 for rape.

State CID deputy chief Asst Comm Mohd Nasir Salleh urged witnesses or anyone with information to contact the central Seberang Prai district police headquarters at 04-5382222.
