Saudi Husband Divorces Wife Minutes After Seeing Her Face For The First Time

A guy from a western city in Saudi Arabia has caused quite a stir after he allegedly divorced his bride during their wedding day. He did so after seeing the poor lady's face for the first time when the wedding photographer asked the couple to pose for pictures.

Gulf News writes the couple had agreed to marry: “Without meeting or seeing each other at least one time as is the custom with traditional families that allow the prospective groom and the future bride to exchange looks.”
When the bride lifted her veil during wedding photos, the groom reportedly leapt to his feet, and spat out a series of curt phrases
"You are not the girl I want to marry."
"You are not the one I had imagined."
"I am sorry, but I divorce you."

Hearing this, the bride collapsed and the wedding turned into a night of tears. According to local daily Okaz, panicked wedding guests stepped in to try to resolve the dispute, but to no avail.
Shocked guests at the wedding in Medina, a city in western Saudi Arabia, reportedly stepped in to try and resolve the argument. However, it doesn't seem likely the pair put aside their differences in time for a honeymoon.

Meanwhile, another man in Saudi Arabia is seeking to divorce after claiming his wife kept ignoring his WhatsApp messages
The new WhatsApp feature has proven to be a disaster for a Saudi wife who did not reply to her husband’s WhatsApp messages promptly. Emirates24/7 reported that the woman’s spouse had texted her from his office but she did not reply. He knew she had read his messages because the double blue ticks appeared next to his sent messages.

Worried that something bad had happened which prevented her from replying, he rushed back home — only to find her safe and sound, watching television. The news site reported that the wife told her husband she had been busy messaging friends and that she had planned to reply to him later.

GulfNews.com reported that the man, in his 30s, felt that his wife of two years, was spending too much time on her phone. It added that he felt she was neglecting their child and him, leading to his decision to divorce him.
