The Selangor State Education Department (JPNS) is investigating a viral video showing an alleged bullying incident involving students at a school in Rawang
In a statement on Sunday, 12 July, the department said it is taking the matter seriously after a video of the incident began circulating on social media.
The 36-second clip appears to show two male students in school uniform involved in a physical altercation while surrounded by a group of other students. Several onlookers can also be seen recording the incident on their phones.
In the video, one student repeatedly strikes another student, who falls to the ground and does not appear to fight back.
According to JPNS, the case is currently being investigated by the police, and the department is providing its full cooperation throughout the investigation
The department stressed that it would not tolerate any form of misconduct that could jeopardise students' safety and wellbeing.
"JPNS will not compromise on any form of misconduct that could affect the safety and wellbeing of students. No one will be protected," it said.
It added that anyone found guilty would face strict disciplinary action in accordance with existing regulations.
The department also urged the public not to speculate and to allow the authorities to complete their investigation.
