Senior Citizen Found Dead At Bus Stop On The Way To His Clinic Follow-Up Appointment

The police said they found various medications and treatment books in the victim's bag.

It was found that an elderly man did not have time to seek treatment at a health clinic when he was discovered dead at a bus stop in Jasin, Melaka on Tuesday morning, 17 January

According to Sinar Harian, 64-year-old Dol Samad Abu was waiting for a bus to get to a government clinic in Kampung Serkam Darat when he was believed to have collapsed at 7.45am.

Acting Jasin district police chief ASP Mohd Fadzli Othman said the chief of Merlimau police station and his personnel immediately went to the scene of the incident after receiving an emergency call.

According to the police, the man is believed to have suffered a heart attack while on his way to a follow-up appointment at the nearby health clinic

"The incident was witnessed by a resident who happened to be passing by the area. He saw the senior citizen lying down," said Mohd Fadzli.

"Inspection of the victim's bag also found various types of medicine and treatment books."

It was found that the victim had several other diseases, including asthma and gout

The police said the elderly man had lived with his younger brother near the bus stop. An examination carried out by medical officers later confirmed that he died at the scene.

"The treatment book revealed that he does often seek follow-up treatment for his illnesses," added Mohd Fadzli.

The case was classified as sudden death as the police found no elements of foul play or crime. The victim's body has been sent to Jasin Hospital.
