Photos Show Restaurant Workers In Seri Kembangan Cleaning Poultry And Fish By The Roadside
Not again.
Images showing restaurant workers in Seri Kembangan handling poultry and fish by the roadside have gone viral on social media
The images were uploaded to Facebook by Louisa Won on 21 July, receiving over 9,000 shares and 1,000 comments at the time of writing.
Won said she witnessed the unsanitary practice at a restaurant near Equine Park in Seri Kembangan
"The owner should be paying more attention to cleanliness. Why would you allow your workers to place ingredients by the roadside?" she wrote.
The restaurant manager has since claimed that the pictures were taken out of context
Speaking to The Star Online, the manager - who only wanted to be known as Chee - denied claims that his staff had cleaned poultry by the road, adding that they were actually cleaning fishes that had fallen out from the plastic bags that contained them.
The fishes were then picked up and taken into the kitchen, Chee said.
He asserted that the restaurant would always handle poultry meticulously as it is one of their best-selling dishes.
As for the plastic bags seen on ground next to the workers, Chee clarified that those bags contained vegetables left by their suppliers
"The workers did not have time to pick up the plastic bags into the kitchen yet," he said as quoted by The Star Online.
However, Chee acknowledged that it was wrong to place the vegetables on the road even though they were in plastic bags.
