A Singaporean social media influencer recently shared on TikTok that she purchased a new phone for her family's helper
The TikToker, @lingzhi_xo, recently uploaded a 14-second clip of herself purchasing a new OPPO phone for her maid who has worked with her for 13 years.
In the video, the woman says that her helper's phone recently broke down, which is why she decided to gift her the new phone to express her gratitude.
Her maid can also be seen smiling as she unwraps the gift that her employer has given her.
"I appreciate her so much," the influencer wrote in the video.
Despite the woman's attempt to convey a positive message in the video, netizens chastised her for the gift she chose
Many criticised her for giving her helper an SGD200 (RM654) mid-range phone.

Meanwhile, one user defended the woman and said that mid-range phones still work well.
"Appreciate only after 13 years," another user wrote.
