"No Allocations For The Opposition" – PN Shahidan Kassim Calls For Equality In Parliament
Shahidan Kassim's statement was written in retaliation to claims that he was "fishing" for allocations from the government.
Arau member of parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has called for equal allocations among MPs, claiming that the opposition has yet to receive its allocations from the government
According a Facebook post, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) member claimed that all MPs have already received their allocations except for PN lawmakers in Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
"It is unreasonable that the government's finances was distributed unfairly. In accordance with Pakatan Harapan's (PH) manifesto, allocations should be equally distributed among MPs," Shahidan wrote.
Shahidan's statement was also believed to have been written in retaliation against Hulu Langat MP Mohd Sany Hamzan, who claimed that he was "fishing" for allocations
According to Astro Awani, Mohd Sany criticised Shahidan for making hasty judgments on the government's Budget 2023, where the Arau MP claimed that the government was "unfair" in denying the opposition their allocations.
"I would like to ask Shahidan, when did the government make a decision on the matter? It has only been more than a month since this government was formed and it has yet to make any decisions on the matter."
"Therefore, I believe Shahidan's statement is only intended to fish for allocations and pressure the government to approve equal allocations for opposition MPs under the re-tabling of Budget 2023," said Mohd Sany.
Shahidan did not take kindly to the Hulu Langat MP's statement and said that he only requires the clarification of the matter from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"I don't need to hear an explanation from the Hulu Langat MP. This is because I feel he (Mohd Sany) is unqualified to issue an explanation. I only need clarification from the Prime Minister," the Arau MP wrote.
The re-tabling of Budget 2023 will held on 24 February.
