According to Harian Metro, Abu Zarin's wife, Nur Afiqah Mohd Salim said that the pair was having a meal when he received a call from the fire department seeking his assistance to catch a cobra.

He invited her to follow him to the scene. However, her worst nightmare came true when she saw the cobra bit her husband while she was in the car.

"I immediately rushed out of the car to help him. At that time, he was still conscious and managed to put the snake in the bag."

He was rushed to the hospital by a few firefighters to receive treatment. However, he was unconscious when he arrived at Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital (HOSHAS), Temerloh.

He had initially shown improvement when he regained consciousness on Tuesday afternoon.
