Someone Abandoned A Newborn Baby In Front Of A Surau In Kamunting
The baby's umbilical cord was still attached when he was found.
On Saturday, 2 February, at 4.20pm, a newborn baby boy was found left inside an abandoned cardboard box in front of the Nur Iman Surau in Kampung Pinang Seberang, Kamunting, near Taiping

The baby has since been sent to the Taiping Hospital, Taiping district police acting chief Superintendent Razlan Abdul Hamid was quoted as saying by Bernama.
According to him, a policewoman who was patrolling the area found the baby at 4.20pm. She immediately lodged a report at the Kamunting police station.
"She found the baby boy in a box, wrapped in some clothes," Supt Razlan said.
Police are now stepping up efforts to trace the baby's parents
The baby is being monitored at Taiping Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Superintendent Razlan added that the case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for exposure and abandonment of a child under 12 years of age.
