Malaysia defeated traditional rivals Thailand 2-0 in the men's team regu final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games today, 25 September
According to the New Straits Times, this ends the country's 36-year wait for the men's team regu gold medal at the Asian Games after beating Thailand in the final at Nagoya City's Paloma Mizuho Arena.
Malaysia last won gold in the event at the 1990 Beijing Asian Games, where the national team also defeated Thailand in the final.

The second Malaysian trio of Zulkifli Abd Razak, Muhammad Afifuddin Mohd Razali, and Aidil Aiman Azwawi then sealed the gold with a 15-13, 15-10 victory over Kritsanapong Nontakote, Tanaphon Sapyen, and Wuttinu Kamsanor.
The 2-0 victory meant Malaysia did not need to play a third regu to secure the gold.

It follows the national team's triumph over the same opponents at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand last December.
The victory gives Malaysia its fourth gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
