A 3-month-old stray puppy died after being run over twice by a white four-wheel-drive vehicle in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan

In an Instagram post on Friday, 7 August, user @margaret_nisha shared CCTV footage that purportedly captured the incident, calling for accountability and justice for the animal.

The footage appears to show the puppy sleeping in a parking area when a white four-wheel-drive vehicle enters the lot and runs over it.

The vehicle then stops briefly, with the passenger-side door appearing to open and close, before reversing and running over the puppy a second time. It then swerves away and leaves the area.

Margaret said she had planned to take the puppy for vaccinations and have her spayed, but was devastated by her death

The feeder said she has lodged a police report and filed a complaint with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), hoping authorities would investigate the matter.

She also urged the public to show greater care towards stray animals.

"She may have been 'just a stray' to some, but to me, she was a life I cared for. Her life mattered. We may not be able to shelter every stray, but we can be more responsible. Choose compassion. Animals share this world with us. Their lives matter too," she said.

She also urged people not to try to identify or confront the vehicle owner themselves, saying she did not want an innocent person to be wrongly accused.

Port Dickson district police chief DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib said the case has been referred to the DVS

Mohd Ruslan confirmed that a police report was lodged in Lukut and said the incident was being treated as an accident.

"There was no incident of the dog being deliberately killed; it was treated as an accident case," he said, according to The Star.

Margaret told SAYS that DVS has taken her statement and is investigating the case.
