Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman is one of 100 of the world's most influential young people in 2018, according to a newly launched list by a London-based global platform
The 26-year-old is honoured alongside young leaders from all over the world, from well-known faces in government and policy to those quietly transforming the face of their governments on a local or national level
The young leaders included in the list are considered the "ones to watch."
Apolitical's list is based on nominations from governments, international organisations such as the United Nations and the OECD, as well as universities and businesses.
The Muar MP, who is the only Malaysian included, made it to the top 20 of the list
Malaysia's youngest Minister is accompanied in the top 20 by names like US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, African Union Youth Envoy Aya Chebbi, Chilian politician Camila Vallejo among others.
While Syed Saddiq said that he is honoured to be included in the list, he added that "it is an even greater honour to serve the youth of Malaysia"
"The youth should never be an afterthought but a priority in the nation building process. It is an honour to be listed as one of the World's 100 Most Influential Young people for 2018," the Youth and Sports Minister told Apolotical, according to Astro Awani.
"I dedicate this to the youth of Malaysia whom I am proud to serve," he added.
