A casual scroll through TikTok reportedly ended in absolute heartbreak for a retired public servant in Terengganu after losing close to RM100,000 to a Telegram scam

According to Harian Metro, the 59-year-old victim allegedly lost RM97,933 of his hard-earned pension savings to a non-existent investment scheme.

He lodged a police report at 8.24pm on 2 June.

Once the syndicate reeled him in, they convinced him to make multiple transactions

Azli stated that the scammers later told the victim he had already successfully earned a profit.

However, they told him that to redeem his supposed returns, he had to deposit even more cash into several different bank accounts.

The victim complied, only to realise he was being duped.

Police are currently investigating the case under Section 420 of the Penal Code for an investment scam.
