Thailand's Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati has died following a nearly four-year coma, the country's royal palace confirmed today, 12 June
The eldest child of King Maha Vajiralongkorn had been hospitalised since December 2022 after collapsing from a sudden heart condition.
The 47-year-old's condition deteriorated significantly before her death on Thursday evening.
The palace said her death was linked to multiple health complications, including an intra-abdominal infection, colitis, low blood pressure, arrhythmias, and blood-clotting disorders.

She was one of the king's three children who held formal royal titles, placing her among those eligible for succession under Thailand's constitution.
Beyond her royal duties, the princess built an impressive professional legacy.
She earned a master's degree and a doctorate in law from Cornell University, later working as an attorney in the Thai Office of the Attorney-General.
Her career eventually transitioned into international diplomacy.
She served as Thailand's ambassador to Austria, Slovenia, and Slovakia, and later as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations (UN) Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice
In 2021, she entered the military, where she attained the rank of general and served as chief of staff in the Royal Security Command. She also established a charity focused on protecting the rights of incarcerated women.
The news comes after Thailand's Queen Mother Sirikit died at 93 in October last year.
The royal palace is preparing to hold formal funeral rites, and the government is expected to declare a period of national mourning.
