This Malaysian Trump Fan Spent Over RM2K With Hopes To Meet The US President In Singapore
"Who knows? Sometimes the impossible can happen."
A Malaysian forked out RM2,290 to spend a night at Singapore's Shangri-La hotel for a chance to bump into US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, 12 June
Maharaj Mohan travelled to the Lion City with one goal: to meet one of his idols, US President Donald Trump, and get his copy of 'Trump: The Art of the Deal' signed by its author.
According to Today Online, Mohan was waiting at the hotel lobby since 6.30am yesterday, hoping to bump into the US president as he left for the Singapore Summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Sentosa.
However, all the 25-year-old got for his trouble - a long drive and a pricey hotel bill - was a selfie with Trump's state limousine
At about 8am, Mohan was able to snap a shot of himself as the bulletproof and bomb-proof Cadillac carrying the US president passed by.
Despite not achieving his purpose, Mohan has no regrets. He told Today Online that, "SGD765 is a big sum, more than RM2,000. But it is not too much to meet the president."
On why he was on his mission to meet the US President on his own, Mohan explained that, "It is lonely being a Trump supporter in Malaysia"
According to Today Online, none of his family members and friends were interested in accompanying him to Singapore.
"Everyone told me there is zero chance, 1% chance of even being within 20 km radius of the president," said Mohan.
"But who knows? Sometimes the impossible can happen," he added.
Though Mohan admitted that his admiration for Trump has gotten him "a lot of hate", he stands by the man he called a "visionary" who "sees things other people don't see"
"He does not waste time. He just goes in and out of meetings, phone calls, and goes straight to the point. He does not beat around the bush (like other politicians and world leaders) Trump goes straight to the point, solves it and closes the deal."
"That’s how leaders should be," he said, adding that, "If our former prime minster Datuk Seri Najib Razak looked out for his own citizens, Malaysia wouldn't be in such dire straits. Trump puts America first," he told Today Online.
Since news broke of Mohan's efforts to catch a glimpse of the US President, his friends have flooded his Facebook profile with messages of support
