"He stated that he woke up in an unfamiliar room on a single bed. The female suspects then allegedly forced the man to drink an energy drink‚ before taking turns raping him numerous times a day," South African Police Service Captain Colette Weilbach told Times Live.

The victim was later dumped semi-naked in a field, where he managed to flag down a passing car

“The South African Police Service take all sexual offences seriously regardless of the gender of the victim involved. We assure all victims of these types of sexual crimes that we will carry out robust investigations to bring all the offenders to justice," said Weilbach.

The police are currently seeking help from the public to locate the offenders.

But despite the police’s reassurances, many in the country still don’t feel enough is done for male victims of sexual violence

Rees Mann, of the South African Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse, said nearly 20% of sexual violations reported were on men.

He said, "Male victims are much less likely than females to report sexual abuse because police don't take it seriously."
