TMJ Spent Over RM1 Million While Paying RM3,000 For Each Shopper's Groceries At Aeon Mall
The Crown Prince said he "genuinely loves his people."
On Wednesday, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the Crown Prince of Johor, was at Aeon Mall Tebrau City Supermarket, where he surprised shoppers by paying RM3,000 each for their groceries
"I would like to announce to you all who are here that whatever you want in the supermarket today is on me," Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who was with his wife, Che Puan Khaleeda Bustamam, can be heard announcing to shoppers at Aeon Mall.
The 33-year-old Crown Prince of Johor, fondly known as TMJ, told shoppers there that he would treat everyone by paying their groceries for up to RM3000 per cart.
According to multiple reports, TMJ spent over RM1 million in total.
The official Facebook page of JOHOR Southern Tigers, a football club owned by TMJ, later shared photos from the supermarket
The Facebook post also carried a statement from the Crown Prince who said that he is no politician, "I do not need votes. But I genuinely love my people."
After TMJ's shock announcement, there was a huge rush of shoppers as the word spread. The shopping spree lasted for about an hour, when at around 8pm the supermarket had to close down
In the aftermath of the hour-long spree, the supermarket was left in a mess. A photo, posted by a Twitter user, Nurainie Haziqah, that shows the mess left by shoppers has gone viral, with over 6K RTs.
