The lecturer who berated a B40 student without a laptop has been dismissed from duty until the completion of internal investigations, announced Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)

In a statement today, 1 April, the university said the decision to put the lecturer, Professor Dr Roshana Takim, on leave was made by the university's board of directors yesterday, 31 March.

"This decision was made to ensure that the university's investigation can be carried out effectively and orderly," they said.

The lecturer has been put on leave starting today.

UiTM also said it will not hesitate to take action against anyone found spreading confidential information that may tarnish the university's reputation, intentionally or otherwise

"UiTM will not hesitate to lodge a report to the authorities if there are parties that are sharing misleading postings," they warned.

The university is believed to be referring to a three-page document that was circulated on social media yesterday.

The document, sighted by SAYS on Twitter, appeared to be a leaked internal memo presenting the chronological order of events that led to the viral video and details of the underprivileged student involved in the incident.

According to Malay Mail, the university lodged a police report after the confidential letter found its way to public eye.
