An early morning fire at Singapore's Amoy Street Food Centre could have sparked chaos, but one elderly uncle stayed calm under pressure

A viral video shows him casually clearing items from his lor mee stall as flames roared, earning admiration from netizens.

According to The Straits Times, the fire broke out on 19 January around 4.55am at the popular food centre on Maxwell Road.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded swiftly to the blaze, which had engulfed the contents of one stall.

Thankfully, six individuals evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.

While most people would panic in such a situation, this uncle's calm and collected reaction has turned him into an unexpected hero

Working at the Yuan Chun Famous Lor Mee stall, he was seen calmly moving bowls and other items to a table outside his stall, all while the fire alarm blared and flames crept dangerously close.

The video, shared on Reddit, has garnered nearly 360 upvotes. Meanwhile, a Facebook post on the Complaint Singapore page has gained over 900 shares and 1,000 reactions as of 20 January.

One concerned commenter expressed hope for the uncle's wellbeing.

SCDF personnel arrived promptly and extinguished the fire using a water jet
