It turns out that the young man who was assaulted by a Datuk at a hot pot restaurant in Tropicana Avenue, Petaling Jaya is the son of another influential Datuk

According to a report published by Sin Chew Daily today, 15 January, the victim in the hot pot incident is the son of Datuk Kwan Foh Kwai, a well-known person in the construction industry who once held top posts in companies such as Sunway Construction Group Berhad and Sungei Way Construction Berhad.

According to Luxchem Corporation Berhad's website, Kwan is the group's current independent non-executive chairman. He was appointed to the position in March 2020.

The Chinese daily reported that Kwan is also the acting president of the Perak Chinese Assembly Hall.

Kwan made it known that it was his son who was assaulted by the Datuk because he does not want the Internet to make unfair comments about his son

"It is regrettable that this happened. We called the police on the night after the incident," he revealed.

"In order to prevent the surfacing of unfair posts about my son, I will not deny my son's identity."

When asked about injuries his son sustained, Kwan refused to comment, only saying that he will let the matter be handled by the police.

For the time being, he said he will not be taking any legal action against any parties, such as sending a lawyer's letter to the assailants.
