Over the weekend, a TikTok video showing a man verbally abusing a woman who asked him to leave the women's-only coach on the MRT gained widespread attention

In the 41-second clip, the man can be seen standing in the ladies' coach while engaging in a phone conversation.

As the video progressed, Rafaa, the woman who uploaded the video, could be heard politely asking him to leave the women's section.

However, instead of complying with her request, the man responded rudely by telling her to "shut up."

Despite Rafaa's continued requests, the man simply ignored her and continued his phone conversation.

According to the caption of the video, the man was initially not using his phone, but he pretended to be on a call as soon as Rafaa started filming him

Rafaa also claimed that the man had shouted at her multiple times before she started to record him.

She added that she attempted to seek assistance from auxiliary police officers, but was unable to locate them at that moment.

Netizens expressed their strong displeasure with the man's behaviour

"Too many men in women's coach lately and the fact that Rapid does nothing to solve this pisses me off. Do better, Rapid KL," commented one user.

"I'm sorry that you had to deal with this. Such a low from the man, he's trying to save himself from embarrassment and pretend to answer a call," said another.

One user shared her own experience, saying, "In my case, there was a group of 8-9 guys seated in the women's coach. They [were being ignorant]. So, I contacted the staff."

Subsequently, Rapid KL issued an apology to Rafaa in the comments section of her post

"Apologies for your recent MRT experience. Please notify us immediately if it occurs again so we can address the situation and prevent future incidents," read the comment by Rapid KL.

Responding to the comment, Rafaa stated "I had notified the person in charge but I was told that security is unavailable now and there is nothing to be done as he passed right in front."

Speaking to SAYS, Rafaa also said that she decided to upload the video to raise awareness about this issue.
