A video showing the driver of a Volvo SUV under the influence of drugs crashed head-on with a Perodua Myvi after driving against traffic in Jalan Klang Lama (Old Klang Road) has gone viral

The video, posted on the Facebook page of Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS on Saturday, 5 September, shows the driver of the Volvo attempting to bulldoze the Myvi backwards, as alarmed onlookers try to intervene.

In the video that is over a minute-long, the Volvo driver, who is a man, continues to push forward against the Myvi as its female driver blares her car horn in an attempt to make him stop. However, the Volvo driver only stops when one of the onlookers intervenes and opens the driver side of the door.

Following which, the Myvi driver leaves her car and joins the crowd that had gathered on the side of the road. The Volvo driver, however, closes his door and continues to remain in his car.

The man was arrested after he turned up at the Jalan Bandar police station yesterday when he was summoned to lodge a report

According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Zulkefly Yahya, police had summoned both the drivers involved in the accident that happened on Friday, 4 September.

The 35-year-old suspect was promptly arrested after he turned up at the Jalan Bandar police station.

A urine test performed on the Volvo driver turned out positive for drugs, reported Bernama.

The case is being investigated under two different charges under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving, and under the Dangerous Drugs Act for drug abuse.

Zulkefly said that an application will be made to remand the Volvo driver for further investigation and that his department will refer the case to the public prosecutor "as soon as possible".
