Video Shows Diner Plucking His Own Chest Hair Into Char Kuey Teow To Avoid RM30 Bill

A diner in Penang allegedly plucked hair from his own chest and mixed it into a plate of char kuey teow before claiming the food was contaminated and refusing to pay the RM30 bill

The stunt was uncovered when the restaurant manager checked CCTV footage, which appeared to show the man repeatedly reaching inside his T-shirt, pulling out what looked like chest hair, and placing it into the dish.

The incident reportedly happened at a restaurant along Persiaran Gurney in George Town around 5.45pm on Sunday, 4 October, according to Sin Chew Daily.

The restaurant manager, identified only as Cheng, said the man, believed to be a foreign national, had been dining with a female companion.

The pair had initially wanted to order fried chicken but switched to char kuey teow, an egg, and a drink after being told the chicken was sold out

Cheng said the man later complained that he had found hair in his noodles.

"After examining it, I found that something was amiss," the restaurant manager was quoted as saying.

"If the hair had really been in the char kuey teow, it should have been oily, but the hair we found was dry. There were six to seven strands of hair in the dish. They were also very short."

The pair allegedly got up to leave while restaurant staff were still examining the food. When staff reminded the man that he had not paid, he allegedly refused, saying he would not pay for food that had been contaminated.

The restaurant manager said he became suspicious and later checked the restaurant's CCTV footage

The discovery led the restaurant to conclude that the hair may have been deliberately planted in the food.

The meal had cost about RM30.

Cheng said the CCTV footage had since been shared with other restaurant operators as a warning about the couple.
