A jaw-dropping one-minute video posted by Redditor u/blitzarc today showed how quickly a car parts thief managed to steal a car battery from a Proton Wira... and in broad daylight too!

Having arrived with an accomplice on a motorcycle, the perpetrator calmly sauntered to the front of the car and crouched down near the tyres at the 20-second mark, presumably to unlock the bonnet

According to Redditor u/JellyMule

"The cable that unlocks the hood from inside the car is run just above the front right wheel well. (The Wira is) especially vulnerable because there is no cover to prevent people sticking their hands in."

Once he popped the hood, the thief began fiddling with the car battery

In a matter of seconds, the thief had successfully relieved the battery from its "bindings". All in all, the entire process took him less than 30 seconds.

In the thread, several Redditors revealed that they have also had their car batteries stolen, possibly by thieves who employed the same method

In fact, there was a pretty viral video depicting a similar modus operandi from 2011 on YouTube. Watch it HERE:
