The daughter of an elderly woman involved in a near-death accident has expressed her gratitude to three brave young men who saved her mother before her car caught fire
The incident occurred around 3.35pm on Sunday, 29 March, near the BU2 park in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, when the 84-year-old woman lost control of her car at a junction, causing it to overturn.
Speaking to China Press at Sungai Buloh Hospital, the daughter said her mother is in stable condition and is expected to be discharged soon after undergoing one more surgery on her arm.
"At the time, the car was already emitting smoke and could have exploded at any moment.
"I am incredibly grateful to these three young men for risking their lives to rescue my mum. Without them, my mum might not be alive," she said.
She added that because the incident happened so suddenly, her mother drifted in and out of consciousness after the crash and was not aware of what had happened.
"She only found out later that three youths had saved her life."
The victim's husband also thanked the three men for saving his wife
He recounted that the accident occurred shortly after his wife had dropped him off at a clinic for a follow-up appointment.
He said he received a message from a security guard informing him that his wife had been in an accident.
He added that he breathed a huge sigh of relief after learning that his wife had been rescued by three men of different races and was not in any life-threatening danger.
"I haven't had the chance to thank these three young men yet. If I knew where they lived, I would definitely pay them a visit to thank them in person," he told the Chinese daily.
He described his wife as an independent woman who frequently goes out alone for leisure.
He also said the 10-year-old car had been regularly serviced and had never been involved in any accidents.
He believes the car may have skidded during the incident, although it is understood that his wife was driving very slowly at the time.
