Cover image via SAYSYes. If you are an eligible Malaysian citizen aged 18 or above, you are automatically registered as a voter even if you never registered manually.
Malaysia introduced Automatic Voter Registration (Pendaftaran Pemilih Secara Automatik) together with Undi18, which lowered the voting age to 18. This means eligible Malaysians no longer need to submit a manual voter-registration application just to be added to the voter roll.
You should still check your voter status through MySPR Semak to confirm that your details appear correctly.
Who is automatically registered?
Automatic voter registration applies to eligible Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above, subject to the Election Commission's voter-roll process.
The Election Commission (EC), or Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Malaysia, automatically registers eligible Malaysians as voters if they meet the required conditions.
The general conditions are:
- you are a Malaysian citizen,
- you are aged 18 or above,
- your official address information is complete,
- and you are not disqualified from voting under the law

If your information is incomplete, especially your address information, your voter record may not appear correctly or the EC may not be able to assign an accurate electoral division.
Why your name may not appear yet
Your name may not appear immediately if your registration is still going through the monthly voter-roll process.
For new 18-year-old voters, the automatic registration process may take up to about one and a half months from the date they turn 18.
Voter information may be checkable after the 16th of the following month, subject to the EC's monthly voter-roll process.
If you recently turned 18, check MySPR Semak again after the relevant monthly update.
How to check if you are already a voter
Use MySPR Semak to check whether your voter record already appears in the system.
Enter your MyKad, military, or police service number without dashes or spaces, complete the CAPTCHA, and review the voter information shown.
If your details appear, the EC has voter-registration information for you in the system.
