Changing your voting address means applying to change your electoral division, usually through Form A (Borang A) in MySPR or through an authorised EC registration counter.
After submission, the application must still be verified, approved, and reflected in the EC's voter roll update process before your new voting area appears in MySPR Semak.
Is there a fixed timeline?
There is no simple fixed timeline that applies to every voting address update.
The timing depends on:
- when you submit the Form A application
- whether your National Registration Department (JPN) address information has already been updated
- whether the application is complete
- when the EC processes the change
- when the next voter-roll update reflects the approved change

In most cases, the update only appears after the next relevant voter roll is processed and published. This can take around one to two months, depending on when you submitted the application and where it falls within the EC's voter-roll cycle.
A submitted application does not mean your new constituency applies immediately.
How do you know if the change has taken effect?
The clearest way to check is to review your updated voter details through MySPR Semak.
After your application has gone through the EC's process, check whether your voter information now shows the new electoral division.

If MySPR Semak still shows your old voting area, the change may not have taken effect yet.
Can it update in time for the next election?
It depends on when the application is submitted and whether the change is processed before the relevant election voter roll is used.
If you submit the application too close to an election, your new voting area may not apply in time. You may still need to vote according to the constituency shown in MySPR Semak for that election.
For this reason, voters who have moved should update their address and apply for a change of electoral division as early as possible.
