Rejoice, aspiring gamers! Local institution Asia Pacific University (APU) has joined hands with electronic sports governing body eSports Malaysia (ESM) to set up the APU eSports Malaysia Academy - the first of its kind in the country
To solidify the partnership, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) was signed between Datuk Dr. Parmjit Singh, CEO of APIIT Education Group, and Dato’ Latt Shariman Abdullah, President of eSM.
The academy will serve as a platform for anyone who has ever dreamt of making it in the competitive eSports circuit
For those who want to be the next "MidOne", there will be courses carried out professional gamers on four popular games - Dota 2, FIFA Online, Counter-Strike, and League of Legends.
For those interested in playing a role in the world of competitive gaming in other ways, there will be courses on being effective team managers and shoutcasters as well
"This academy trains them to have better teamwork, decision-making skills and to be professional in the gaming industry," APIIT Education Group CEO Datuk Dr Parmjit Singh said during the launch of the academy on 23 February.
Courses are slated to begin in April and it will be open to everyone
According to Hardwarezone, the course for gamers will commence first, as there are experienced professional gamers who have signed up as trainers for the four games already.
