Pandelela And Nur Dhabitah Advance Into The Semi-Finals Of 10m Platform Dive

Looks like nothing can stop our athletes from getting a medal!

As Malaysians paid their full attention to Peng Soon-Liu Ying's much anticipated finals last night, our diving queens Pandelela Rinong and Nur Dhabitah Sabri have safely made it to the semi-finals of the women's 10m platform dive event!

Out of a field of 28, Pandelela finished sixth with 332.45 over the five rounds of dives, while Nur Dhabitah was just two places behind with 325.85. The preliminaries took place on 17 August at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre.

Both divers performed consistently throughout their routines, with four dives that were above the 60-point mark

Pandelela scored 72.00, 65.25, 73.60, 52.80, 68.80, with the third dive putting her in third place. She fell to the fifth place after the fourth dive but managed to climb up to the sixth position.

As for Nur Dhabitah, she scored 72.00, 41.60, 75.90, 64.35, 72.00, with the second dive putting her at risk of elimination. However, she redeemed herself with an amazing third dive.

Pandelela is seeking for another medal after clinching the silver medal with fellow diver Cheong Jun Hoong. For Nur Dhabitah, the event offers her another chance for a medal after missing out on the 3m springboard synchronised dive.

China’s Si Yajie and Ren Qian led the qualifiers with American Jessica Parrato coming in third.

The semifinal for the women’s 10m platform diving will take place at 9pm tonight, Malaysian time. Make sure you tune in! :D
