Her eyes twinkled at the mention of scaling Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. This will be the next summit for young Felda mountaineer Siti Hanisah Sharudin to conquer.

Siti Hanisah, 23, from the Felda Jelai 1 scheme in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan, is expected to take six days to climb Africa’s tallest mountain at 5,895 metres accompanied by coach Zainudin Lot.

However, she added she would not climb the mountain alone as she would join a group of international climbers upon arrival at Tanzania.

Malaysia’s youngest female climber to conquer the world’s highest peak has set her sights on reaching the top of the world’s seven tallest summits. And it is 2 down, 5 to go for Siti Hanisah Sharuddin, 23, who scaled Mount Everest 5 months ago and Russia’s Mount Elbrus last year.

"I am excited and thrilled to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. The trek is going to be different this time as I will not be facing ice, but wild forestation," Siti Hanisah said at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday.

“I will have to cross a lava field on this climb. However, the actual challenge is a 10km rock-strewn route to reach the top. “I also have to be careful to avoid food poisoning,” she said.

“My dream for this mission is to be an inspiration to my friends and fellow Malaysians by helping them to believe that anything is possible. “I would like to inspire other women and prove that we can do what men can do,” Siti Hanisah said before boarding a flight for Tanzania yesterday.
