Cake Shop Employees Surprise Aunty After Seeing Her Celebrate Birthday Alone

Employees of a cake shop in Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, have won netizens' hearts for throwing a surprise birthday celebration for an aunty who was at the store alone
In a video posted yesterday, 4 December, Sundaydo HQ shared the story of a middle-aged woman coming to their store to purchase a piece of cake.
After employees learned it was her birthday, storefront employee Eryn offered the aunty the cake for free. The aunty insisted on paying, but Eryn refused to accept her money.
"After a few minutes, we realised that the aunty was celebrating her birthday and blowing the candles alone.
"She then said she wanted to go to a shop nearby for a while," read the caption of the video.
Once she left, the team seized the opportunity to prepare a surprise for her
"The team was excited to give the aunty a surprise once she was back.
"The aunty came back and offered some biscuits to Eryn in exchange for the free cake.
"Little did she know that we wanted to surprise and celebrate her birthday together," Sundaydo HQ wrote.
The team became teary-eyed as they sang Happy Birthday, with some seen wiping their tears.
The aunty also appeared moved, wiping her tears with a tissue.
"Seeing her smile and feeling her happiness with our cakes and our gesture is what keeps us going," they said.
Speaking to SAYS, Sundaydo HQ expressed their happiness and gratitude for being able to celebrate the aunty's birthday
They also mentioned feeling "overwhelmed by all the kind responses and prayers" received from the video.
At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 1.7 million views on Instagram
"I live nearby. And after seeing this absolute drama, I'll be coming to the shop to support you more often. Y'all are something else. In this cruel world, it's rare to see this kind of gem. Much respect to y'all," read a top comment.
"Thank you for being kind. It cost you nothing but you won the hearts of everyone in return. Well done, team," said a netizen, while another joked, "You guys sell cakes or onions?"
