Online safety has become a priority for many parents in Malaysia

According to Tune Talk's Family Digital Confidence Survey, one in two parents say age-inappropriate content is their biggest concern when their children go online.

Meanwhile, three in five parents feel neutral or aren't fully confident about managing their children's internet and mobile usage.

Technology evolves so quickly that many parents feel like they're constantly playing catch-up. One moment, your child is watching educational videos and the next thing you know, the algorithm has taken them somewhere completely different.

Parents today aren't only worried about how long their children spend on their devices

They're also thinking about what they're seeing while they're online.

Schools, communities, and national initiatives have all started encouraging healthier digital habits because online safety has become a shared responsibility.

The reality is that no single solution can replace conversations, trust, and guidance at home.

And this is where Tune Talk's new Epik+ Family Safe comes in

Recently launched, Epik+ Family Safe is a prepaid family connectivity plan that combines everyday mobile connectivity with built-in digital safety features.

Unlike parental control apps that need to be installed on individual devices, its protection works at the network level, helping to filter potentially harmful content when a child is connected through the plan. This gives parents an added layer of reassurance across their child's online experience.

Parents can activate One-Tap Parental Control and choose between three protection levels depending on their child's age and needs:

  • High Protection: Limits browsing to kid-friendly websites
  • Medium Protection: Filters mature and high-risk content while still allowing access for learning and hobbies
  • Low Protection: Provides essential protection without heavily restricting everyday browsing

The service also supports one parent and one child under a single plan, with parental controls that can be customised after secure onboarding through MyDigital ID and verification of the child's birth certificate.

Depending on the protection level selected, Epik+ Family Safe can filter a wide range of online content across up to 56 categories to help create a safer browsing experience for children. This includes harmful, inappropriate, and potentially malicious websites, while also allowing parents to restrict access to selected online platforms and services based on their family's needs.

Tune Talk worked together with reputable organisations such as the British Board of Film Classification, Anti Phishing Working Group, National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children, and the Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit to bring this filtering feature.

Beyond the safety features, the Epik+ Family Safe plan also comes with the essentials for connectivity
